Matteo Castiglioni “A Short History of the World’s Most Important Attraction” Video con suono, 6’18”, 2018 Promosso da "Forevergreen.fm" Il lavoro, pensato e prodotto come un documentario su un non-luogo in bilico tra un luogo di culto e un possibile festival, evoca in modo ambiguo i concetti di idolatria e comunità. Il soggetto in questo caso ruota attorno al concetto di attrazione il quale viene declinato in molti dei suoi possibili significati. Un luogo di pellegrinaggio genera un’attrazione verso i popoli, allo stesso tempo la visita di questi luoghi genera nelle persone una ricerca verso “l’altro”, verso l’esterno, quindi un’ulteriore attrazione. Nel mio lavoro questa attrazione non è altro che una nostra “personale” proiezione umana, una realtà virtuale, nella quale ci rifugiamo cercando di evadere dalla realtà in cui viviamo. Questa evasione-proiezione non fa altro che generare un ulteriore schermo che non ci permette di vedere chiaramente ciò che ci circonda. Questo tema viene trattato spesso in maniera ironica all’interno del video, cercando in questo modo di attirare lo spettatore con un linguaggio che potrebbe essere superficialmente giudicato “banale” o “comune”. Il documentario è ritmicamente veloce e complesso, costruito su una struttura appositamente costruita e articolata, pensato come un viaggio fatto di continue citazioni verso fatti realmente esistenti e altri totalmente inventati, ad ogni modo tutti assolutamente ricollegabili alla nostra esperienza e alla nostra storia. - The work, conceived and produced as a documentary on a non-place in the balance between a place of worship and a possible festival, evokes in an ambiguous way the concepts of idolatry and community. In this case the subject revolves around the concept of attraction which is declined in many of its possible meanings. A place of pilgrimage generates an attraction towards the peoples, at the same time the visit of these places generates in the people a search for "the other", towards the outside, therefore aa further attraction. In my work, this attraction is nothing more than a "personal" human projection, a virtual reality, in which we seek refuge in order to escape from the reality in which we live. This evasion-projection does nothing but generate a further screen that does not allow us to clearly see what surrounds us. This theme is often treated ironically within the video, trying in this way to attract the viewer with a language that could be superficially judged "trivial" or "common". The documentary is rhythmically fast and complex, built on a purpose-built and articulated structure, conceived as a journey made of continuous quotations towards really existing facts and others totally invented, in any case all absolutely connected to our experience and our history.
